Rider Safety & Terms
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Cycling has real risks, and you ride at your own risk. RideTime helps riders find each other. We don't organize, lead, inspect, or supervise any ride, and ride organizers are fellow riders, not professional guides.
Riding safely
- Know your limits. Pick rides that match your skill and fitness. Ride difficulty and pace are set by organizers and are only a guide.
- Wear the right gear. Always wear a helmet. Bring whatever the ride calls for, like a full-face helmet and pads for downhill, or lights for evening rides.
- Check your bike before every ride, and carry water, a spare tube, and basic tools.
- Check conditions. Trails close after rain and weather changes fast. Look for a Confirmed or Canceled update from the organizer before you head out.
- Follow trail rules and local laws, including e-bike rules, which vary by trail system.
- Tell someone where you're riding and when you expect to be back.
Meeting people from RideTime
- RideTime doesn't run background checks or verify who riders are.
- Meet at public trailheads or shops, and trust your instincts. If something feels off, don't go.
- In messages, never share passwords, money, or payment info. Use Block and Report on anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
- Use Report on any ride, comment, or message that looks fake, unsafe, or wrong.
- If someone makes you feel unsafe, report it to ridetimega.support@gmail.com. In an emergency, call 911.
Riders under 18
- Riders 13 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's permission to use RideTime.
- Teens must ride with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult they know, never alone with people they've only met online.
- Some rides include beverages for adults. Alcohol is for riders 21 and older only.
- Private messages are for riders 18 and older only. Adults must never use RideTime to privately contact riders under 18.
- RideTime is not for children under 13.
Organizing a ride
- Describe your ride honestly, including its difficulty, pace, and whether it's no-drop.
- Confirm or cancel your ride on RideTime when plans change, so riders aren't left waiting.
- Group leaders decide who joins private groups and who sees private group rides. Please be fair and keep your group welcoming.
- Organizing a ride on RideTime doesn't make you responsible for other riders' safety, but please look out for your group.
Using RideTime
By creating an account, you agree that you:
- Are 18 or older, or are 13 to 17 and have your parent's or guardian's permission.
- Will give accurate information and keep your password private.
- Won't post or message anything hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, or illegal, and won't spam or advertise without permission.
- Won't post anyone else's private information.
- Have the right to share anything you post, such as photos or route links.
We may remove rides, comments, or accounts that break these rules or put riders at risk, and we may change or pause RideTime at any time.
Your content
You own what you post. By posting it on RideTime, you let us show it on the site so the ride and discussion work. If you delete it, it comes down.
Limits on our responsibility
RideTime is free and provided "as is." We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we can't promise that rides will happen as listed, that information riders post is correct, or that the site will always be available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, RideTime and the people who run it aren't responsible for injuries, losses, or damages related to rides or meetups found through the site, or to other riders' actions.
Changes
If we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top. Continuing to use RideTime means you accept the updated terms.
