Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
The short version
- We collect only what RideTime needs to work: your email, the profile you fill in, and the rides and comments you post.
- We never sell your information and we don't run ads.
- Your exact location never leaves your device. It's only used to sort rides by distance.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time.
Who we are
RideTime is a free community website for finding and creating group bike rides, run by an independent rider in Acworth, Georgia. If you have any questions about this policy, email ridetimega.support@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password. Passwords are stored securely by our database provider and we can never see them.
- Your rider profile: whatever you choose to add, such as your name, riding area, ride type, skill level, pace, and bio.
- Rides you create: the title, type, date, meeting spot, address, zip code, and details you enter.
- Rides you join and comments you post on rides.
- Who you follow and who follows you (other signed-in riders can see these lists), and notifications we show you about activity on RideTime.
- Private messages you send and receive, when they were read, riders you block, and that you confirmed you're 18 or older (needed to use messages).
- Reports you send about rides, comments, or messages.
- Groups and shop pages you create or join, and requests to join groups. Shop pages (address, hours, phone, website) are public.
- That you agreed to the Rider Safety & Terms when you signed up, and when.
- Ride photos you send in, with any caption and photo credit you add. They stay private until we review them. Approved photos are shown publicly on RideTime with the credit you gave.
Your location
If you allow it, the Find a Ride page asks your browser for your location so it can show rides near you. That location is used only on your own device to work out distances. It is never sent to RideTime or saved in our database.
If you type a zip code instead, your browser remembers it so you don't have to type it again. To turn location off, change the setting for this site in your browser.
Who can see what
- Private group rides can only be seen by members of that group.
- Public rides, including their meeting spot, address, and details, can be seen by anyone, even without an account. Only post an address you're comfortable sharing publicly.
- Your name appears on rides you join or organize and next to your comments.
- Your rider profile can be seen by other signed-in riders, and they can find you by name in rider search. If you turn on Hide my profile, other riders only see your name and photo, and you don't show up in search.
- Private messages can only be seen by you and the rider you're talking with. If a message is reported, we can read that message to review it.
- Your email address is never shown to other riders.
How we use your information
- To run your account and let you sign in.
- To show rides, who's going, and ride discussions.
- To send account emails, such as sign-up confirmation and password resets.
- To keep RideTime safe, including reviewing reported comments and messages.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Services we use
RideTime relies on a few outside services to work. Each only gets what it needs:
- Supabase stores our database and handles accounts and sign-in.
- Google (Gmail) sends our account emails.
- Zippopotam.us receives zip codes (never your name or email) to look up the town and map coordinates.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr deliver the site's fonts and code, which means they see your device's IP address when pages load.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map pictures on RideTime, and unpkg delivers the map code. They see your device's IP address when a map loads.
- OpenStreetMap's address search (Nominatim) receives a street address only when someone taps "Find the address on the map" for a ride or shop.
- Open-Meteo receives a ride's map location (never anything about you) to show the weather forecast on ride pages.
- Google Calendar opens only if you tap it to save a ride to your calendar.
- Google Maps opens only if you tap "Open in Maps" on a ride.
Cookies and browser storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember small preferences, like your search zip code and distance. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Keeping or deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can edit your profile, edit or delete rides you organize, and delete your own comments at any time.
To delete your whole account, go to Account and tap Delete my account. It removes your account, profile, photos, rides you organize, comments, and messages right away. Groups you started are passed to another member so the group keeps going. Photos you sent in that we already featured on the homepage can be removed too. Just email ridetimega.support@gmail.com, which also works if you can't sign in.
Age requirement
RideTime is for riders 18 and older. Riders 13 to 17 may use RideTime only with a parent's or guardian's permission, and must ride with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult they know.
Private messages are only for riders 18 and older.
RideTime is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, or a teen is using RideTime without permission, please email us and we'll remove the account.
Security
Your data is protected by database security rules that let people change only their own information. No website is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For bigger changes, we'll also let riders know by email or with a notice on the site.
