FAQ

Quick answers about finding rides, groups, messages, and staying safe.

The basics

What is RideTime?

A free website for finding and creating group bike rides around north Georgia: downhill and bike park laps, enduro, trail, cross-country, gravel, road, and chill city rides. It's built by a local rider to help more people get out and ride together.

Does it cost anything?

No. Finding, joining, creating, and leading rides is free, and always will be, for riders, ride leaders, and shops. Later there will be an optional Pro upgrade with extras for anyone who wants them, and a Shop Pro upgrade for bike shops. Early members get perks for helping RideTime get started.

Do I need an account?

You can look at rides without one. To join a ride, comment, create rides, or message riders, make a free account with your email.

Who can use RideTime?

Riders 18 and older. Riders 13 to 17 can use it with a parent's or guardian's permission and must ride with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult they know. Private messages are for adults only. See the Rider Safety & Terms.

Finding and joining rides

How do I find rides near me?

On Find a Ride, tap Use my location or type your zip code, then pick a distance. Switch to Map to see rides on a map, or Calendar to see them by date. On a phone, tap More filters for ride type, level, and no-drop.

What do the trail colors and paces mean?

Mountain and gravel rides use trail-sign colors: 🟢 green is beginner, 🔵 blue is intermediate, ⬛ black is advanced, and double black is expert. Road and city rides list a pace instead, from social and no-drop up to race pace. They're a guide from the organizer, so ask in the ride discussion if you're not sure.

What does no-drop mean?

Nobody gets left behind. The group waits at turns and regroups so everyone finishes together. Great for newer riders or anyone coming back from a break.

How do I know if a ride is still happening?

Organizers mark rides Confirmed or Canceled (with a reason, like wet trails). Check the ride page before you leave. It also shows a weather forecast for the start time.

Can I add a ride to my calendar?

Yes. On any ride page, tap Google Calendar or iPhone / Outlook. It saves the time, meeting spot, and a link back to the ride, plus a reminder 2 hours before.

Creating rides

How do I create a ride?

Go to Create Ride, pick the ride type and level, set the meeting spot (tap the map to drop an exact pin), and add any notes like what to bring. You can edit, confirm, or cancel it anytime from the ride page.

Can I make a ride repeat every week?

Yes, free for every ride leader. Pick weekly, every 2 weeks, or monthly (like the first Friday), and RideTime creates the dates for you. Each date can be canceled on its own, like for a holiday.

Can I post a ride for someone else?

Yes. Fill in Ride leader with their name and it shows them as the leader.

Groups

What are groups?

Crews and clubs can make a group under Community. Groups have a page, a member list, and can host rides.

What's the difference between public and private groups?

Anyone can join a public group right away. For a private group, you tap Ask to join, and the group leader lets you in.

What's a private group ride?

When a group hosts a ride, the organizer can make it a private group ride. Only members of that group can see it and join. Everyone else won't see it in Find a Ride.

I own or work at a bike shop. Can it have a page?

Yes! Go to Community → Bike shops and tap + Add your shop. Add your address, hours, phone, website, and logo. Shop rides you create show on your page, and your staff can tap I work here to join your team.

New shop pages are checked by RideTime first, usually within a day, so nobody can pretend to be your shop. Once checked, your page gets a ✓ Verified badge.

Messages and profiles

How do messages work?

Open any rider's profile and tap Message. The first time, you confirm you're 18 or older. A small number on Messages in the menu shows when you have new ones.

I work at a bike shop. How do I join its team?

Edit your profile and use Work at a bike shop? to find your shop. A manager there adds you to the team, and then you can post rides for the shop. Shops with more than one store can list each one as a location under the main shop.

What does following someone do?

Tap Follow on a rider's profile and you'll get a notification (the bell at the top) whenever they post a new ride. They get a notice that you followed them, and both of you can see your follower and following lists on your profiles.

What shows up in notifications?

The bell at the top shows new followers, new messages, people joining or commenting on your rides, requests to join your group, and changes to rides you joined, like a cancellation or a new time. Email alerts are coming soon.

How do I find a friend on RideTime?

Go to Community → Riders and type their name, or use Find a rider at the top of Messages. Riders who hid their profile won't show up.

Someone is bothering me. What do I do?

In the chat, tap Block and they can't message you anymore. You can also tap Report under any message or comment, or on any ride, and we'll review it. If you ever feel unsafe, call 911.

Who can see my profile?

Other signed-in riders. Your email is never shown to anyone.

Want more privacy? Edit your profile and turn on Hide my profile. Then other riders only see your name and photo, you won't show up in rider search, and people can't message you unless you message them first.

Using RideTime on your phone

Can I put RideTime on my home screen like an app?

Yes. It opens full screen, just like an app.

  • iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Is my location shared?

No. If you tap Use my location, it's only used on your own phone to sort rides by distance. It's never sent to RideTime. See the Privacy Policy.

Photos and your account

How do I get my ride photos on the site?

Use Share ride photos. We look over every photo, and approved ones show up on the homepage with your credit.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account, scroll down, and tap Delete my account. It removes your profile, photos, rides you organize, comments, and messages right away.

I forgot my password.

On the Account page, tap Forgot password? and we'll email you a reset link. Check your spam folder if it doesn't show up.
